Global Missions Health Conference

I have been away for a couple days... I got to go (and work, ha!) to one of my most favorite things -- the Global Missions Health Conference. It is an awesome conference where health professionals, missionaries, medical/dental students and organizations from all over the world come together in one place. It is the largest missions health conference in the country. You can learn more about it HERE. Well, I wish I could say that I took tons of pictures and cannot wait to share them, but I didn't. I am regretting that I did not even take my camera... but I was working so it would have been hard. We (Mitch and I and Scarlett some too) got to meet tons of amazing people and were so encouraged to hear about what God is doing around the world, specifically in using healthcare as a door-opener for the gospel.

After the conference was over, my parents had a get-together for lots of people who were either in town for the event or just some of their dear friends. So, it was really fun to see those people. Specifically we loved meeting little Evelyn Shore who is just 7 weeks old. She is pure preciousness! And then, a sweet lady/dentist that Mitch went to Uganda with this summer, Leigh, who reads my blog and knows about my obsession with smocking did the sweetest thing... she gave Scarlett 2 smocked Christmas dresses for next year! AH! It was so thoughtful of her because they were her little girl's dresses. I was so surprised and thankful. Thank you LEIGH!!!! xoxoxox.

Aren't they darling!?! So thoughtful.

Chocolate Pie... check!

The chocolate pie turned out very well, if I may say so. Some might say the consistency was slightly off, but the flavor was spot on! We had a nice family celebration last night and then Scarlett slept 8 hours straight... that was a gift to her Momma!!!!!

Here is Mitch and Scarlett before we started our party....

Gotta love little missy's double chin!

And her chubby thighs -- too cute.

Thank you for the sweet wishes for a happy birthday for Mitch!

Happy Birthday Mitch!!!!

The love of my life was born 26 years ago today. Mitch is my best friend. You always here people say how awesome it is when you get to marry your best friend... it is SO true. He is so special to me for so many reasons. I have never known someone like him. Here are a couple reasons why I love Mitch --- He is incredibly kind. To the point where all the time he will say something to me or about someone and I will say, "I never would have thought of that, you are so sweet." He is always looking to the interests of others. He loves Jesus so much. At the end of every day I watch him read his Bible. He has always loved to learn about God's word and apply it to his life. He is so fun. He is always trying to get me to quit running around the house like a mad-woman with my to-do list and just enjoy the moment. He is an amazing daddy. From the moment Scarlett entered the world he has been unbelievable. Even when we were in the hospital for days and days with a birth experience that we were totally not expecting, he was such a trooper. Always encouraging me and taking care of Scarlett when I couldn't. Now, each day he comes home after a crazy day and just wants to hold and love on her. It is so precious to watch. I also love that we can talk about Scarlett for hours on end and never think twice about it! Okay, seriously I could go on and on. Words cannot express
how much you mean to me, Mitch.
... And I may or may not get a little out of control with pictures in this post!!! Oh well, ha!

Mitch, I love you. Happy Birthday. Here is to 77 more celebrations of you!
My lover is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.

clip & curl and a meal fit for a king.

I got a new hair-do this week, but haven't had the chance to share:

Short!!! I have always loved short hair... and there is nothing like a fresh, new look so I did it! I think I cut close to 8 inches off. I LOVE my hair dresser -- Erika. She was my high school D-group leader and is a precious friend. You can find her at Twisted Salon in Louisville.

This picture is Scarlett and I before church this morning. It was so nice to have an extra hour this morning due to Daylight Savings. But, boy OH boy did it make for a crazy evening. Seriously, from 5:00 -7:00 pm tonight our house was like something out of a horror film! Ha! Scarlett is getting 2 teeth now so that only added to the plot.

Well, tomorrow is a special day... Mitch's Birthday!!!! I have been prepping for his birthday dinner all afternoon... here is what is on the menu per the birthday boy's request:

Cheese Burgers
Poppy Seed Salad
Green Bean Casserole
Sweet Kernel Corn
Seasoned Oven Potatoes
and for dessert
Chocolate Pie

Now the Chocolate Pie, I have to admit, always intimidates me. It is his favorite but I simply cannot make it as well as his Gran does. So, I always forewarn him. Well, today I decided to just do it. I used my Great Grandma's recipe. It is in the fridge chilling all night. The verdict won't be in until tomorrow evening but it is looking hopeful....

7 months

Scarlett, You are 7 months today! My oh my. Your daddy and I cannot get enough of you! When we put you to bed at night, we miss you! Your screams and giggles fill our home and hearts with so much joy. You are growing and changing ALL the time. Here is what has been going on with you lately...

- You weigh about 22 lbs (we think).
- You are wearing all 12 month clothing and some 18 month.
- You wear size 3 diapers.

- You are eating solids 2 times a day now. You have tried and love: peas, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, pears, zucchini, rice & oatmeal cereal. You tried apples, but they were a little too sweet for your liking. You are a very good little eater, but we are not surprised by that!
- You are still nursing very well.
- You have started, just this week, to take 2 naps a day instead of 3. You are exhausted by the end of the day.
- You have started going to bed at 7:00 pm instead of 7:30 or 8:00.

(Scarlett's pillow was made by my sweet, darling friend Jill.
You can see more of her amazing work HERE.)

- You are sleeping much better than you were a month ago, but you still get up at least once at night (the night before last you slept 11 hours straight and we were shocked!)
- You have learned to clap your hands and do it all the time. It is SO cute.
- You love to "make music" with your toys by smacking them together like cymbals, it cracks us up.
- You play SO well by yourself. If I need to clean up your room or throw in a load of laundry, I just put you in your crib with a few toys and you go to town!

SCREAM!

- You are starting to get some "stranger anxiety." You really only like to be with your mommy or daddy in public.
- You are getting your 1st tooth! AH! Your right, lower, central incisor (according to daddy!) has popped through. It is a sharp little sucker. We call it your "shark tooth."
- You are really wanting to get places. You are often very restless when we are playing because you want to get to something that is out of your reach. You are showing some signs that crawling could be in your near future.
- You are still totally mezmerized by Callie. You squeal when you see her every morning. If only she shared the same fondness.

We love you SO much and thank the Lord for the precious, precious gift He gave us -- YOU!

kisses,
Momma & Da-da

Wordless Wednesday

Ok, I do have some words... I love these little pants. They are 'Matilda Jane.' My mom introduced me to an awesome children's consignment store on Canons Lane in Louisville -- Buttons, Bows & Britches. I found these there. I would highly recommend BB&B.

SACC Fall Festival

We took our little owl to the Fall Festival at church tonight and saw many of our sweet friends. It was a fun night... they had trick-or-treating, food, games, big blow-up toys, etc. It is something I know Scarlett will really enjoy as she grows. Here are some pictures of our time at Treasure Island (that was the theme!).

Scarlett looked like she was flying with her little wings!

Derek (Mitch's college room mate/best friend) volunteered to run a game. He made his game VERY fun for the kiddos. This is our sweet friends' little girl playing.

2 pirates... Miranda and Natalie (sweet friends that I love)

Ha! Miranda totally put a tootsie roll on her tooth... she played the pirate role well!

The Owlette.

And, now onto Thanksgiving. My personal favorite.
