20 week appointment

We went to our 20 week appointment yesterday which was a very fun one. Mitch and I could not wait to get another look at Scarlett. My mom joined in the fun to get her first look at our girl. The ultrasound tech confirmed that she is definitely a girl! Good thing, because the nursery is pink now, no matter what. The ultrasound was very thorough... we looked at her arms, legs, spine, face, kidneys, all 4 chambers of her precious, sweet heart... It was so amazing. One thing I did notice was that she has grown a LOT since our ultrasound at 16 weeks. I have some pictures to post, but have until I can use a scanner. Please stay tuned for some pics!
After the ultrasound, we went back out to the waiting room to wait to see Dr. O'nan. I just sat there thinking about how incredibly thankful I am to God for giving us this little girl. I have always wanted to be a mommy and could not imagine this time being any more wonderful. I just want to say to all of you ladies (and men) out there who want a baby so bad, I know your longing. When we lost our first baby last December I was crushed. Truly, I did not function well for months. But God has a way of turning our ashes into beauty. His mercies ARE new every morning. He is so faithful. Thank you Jesus!

Making progress...

Mitch's birthday was Sunday (the 8th) and when I asked him what he wanted to do for his special day he said, "I want to paint Scarlett's room." So, paint we did! Our house is 85 years old, so the walls are a little high maintenance. They are plaster... they crack really easily and seem to suck paint down as if they have not had a drink in the last century! The walls in the guest room were blue (the only room in the house we had not painted since we moved in), so we had to be extra careful to get good coverage with our paint (called, Possibly Pink) so that in the end it did not appear as a purply pink. We definitely made progress. We stayed up until 1:30 a.m. on Saturday painting! Woowee! Actually, I cannot take much credit... Callie and I ended up plopping down in the chair in the living room around midnight. We were exhausted. There are some finishing touches to make, but then we will officially have our girl's room painted!

Designing Scarlett's Nursery

This is something I have been SO excited about!!! I love decorating anyhow, but a little girl's nursery is truly the cream of the crop for me. I have some ideas in mind that I am pretty sure about, so I will share them with you during a series of posts. This one will set the scene. The nursery was our guest room until a couple weeks ago. We have already moved the furniture out (we put the full bed upstairs so we are ready for visitors!) and have cleared the area so we can begin painting. We hope to get her room painted this coming weekend. I know, I know, some of you may be thinking... "what on earth, you have SO much time!" But, I love to get things done in advance. Plus, it will be Thanksgiving, then Christmas, New Year, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day and then Scarlett will be here! So, the way I see it there is no time to waste. Plus it just makes her arrival all the more real by beginning to prepare a special spot for her. This picture is of our guest room before we started making changes. It is probably my favorite room in the house because of the way the sun comes in through the two windows. I think it will be very cozy for our little dear. I will be sure to post on the progress of this room. Until then, we have got some work to do. Loving each of you and hoping all is well!
