a simply BeAuTiFuL day

We were waiting for Daddy when he rode up on his bike after school today....

Scarlett and I had a nice day.... we walked with Aunt Barbie for a good part of the morning and then I had a lot of cleaning up to do around the house.
Scarlett was wanting to get a better look at her Daddy...

We are thinking that teething may be slowly beginning at our house. There is definitely plenty of drool to go around.

OH my, that sweet face. Melts my heart.

We ate a very simple dinner which consisted of cheese quesadillas, apples slices and grapes. We have been walking almost every evening at the Arboretum, so that may be on the agenda... We are ready for the weekend already, again! Crazy.
I hope you enjoyed this beautiful Thursday the Lord gave us.

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Another Monday rolls around!

Let me introduce you to Scarlett's new, favorite friend -- Sophie.

Love this expression... yes, Scarlett, we are looking at you!

We had another low-key weekend on the Owen range... those are our personal favorite! We did finally cut down the Christmas tree in the backyard, pulled lots of weeds, mowed, swept, trimmed bushes... etc. We hung some new curtains and I made a new curtain/panel for our front door as you can see here... Sorry the picture is kind of dim, but I wanted to show you all the works of my domestic labor!

We went to the grocery (no big deal there!) and I wanted to show you all something new I found that I really like... it has no artificial sweeteners, no preservatives, etc. It is so nice to have a cool, refreshing drink in this HOT weather we are experiencing so I thought I would share one of my favorites. The grape flavor is my very fav, but the strawberry/kiwi is good too.

Hope you have a wonderful week!!!

Love,

A sweet friend visits...

Hey, I remember you...

This is fun, let's talk!

It is crazy to think that Mallory and I met over 3 years ago when she was my intern at church. She is a doll! I always tell her she is wise beyond her years. She is an amazing ambassador for Christ and I love her. Thanks for the visit sweet friend... Scarlett and I loved it! We will miss you.

The Pacifer Bandit

So, I remember dropping Scar's paci earlier, but this totally reminded me! You better believe that this paci went straight for the hot soapy water and then the micro-steam sterilization bag. Too funny!!! Poor little Callie, her life is quite different than it used to be.

P.S. I put up 2 back-posts today... check out July 17th and August 2nd

Monday, Monday

We have had a pretty productive Monday thus far: went to the bank, the post-office, the fabric store... changed the sheets, emptied the dishwasher, did some laundry. Let's hope we (and by we I mean, me!) can keep it up.

Here is the little cutie-pie I found talking up a blue-streak in her bed after nap-time....

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom...Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days...May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children...May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands."
Psalm 90: 12, 14, 16-17

Here is hoping for a great week for all of us... may the Lord rest upon us and establish the work of our hands for us!

a low-key weekend

We enjoyed a non-eventful weekend at home... we did some furniture re-arranging, visited Ms. Jacqueline in the nursing home she was moved to, went to church... It was nice.

Scarlett helped Daddy study...

And she helped Momma with laundry and cooking...

She got quite a few laughs in this weekend too, here is the proof...

I hope you had a nice weekend and are staying cool!

FRIDAY!!!!

Yippee, it is Friday! I normally don't get so excited about the weekend, but I guess since Mitch is back in school we are "working for the weekend" a little more.

Okay, so I have to share something funny with y'all. This is on the verge of embarrassing, but then I thought, "who cares!" it is too hilarious not to show. So, we have been neglecting our backyard... greatly. Mitch was out of town and then back in school and I am not the best lawn-mower operator, so we have just put the backyard on the back-burner. (mind you, our front yard looks quite polished) My hunch is that we subconsciously think that it is not a priority because Callie just runs around out there like a banshee all the time. So, I walked outside this morning after Callie was almost beating down the door and I found this...

AH!!! Hahahaha! What is this, our Christmas Tree? Jack and the Bean Stock? A stock of corn? Seriously, this is out of control. I laughed so hard when I saw this that I just had to post it. So, you know what we will be doing this weekend... working on our backyard and harvesting whatever this bounty is! Oh my word.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend whatever it may entail!

Check-up

Scarlett and I just returned from her 4 month check-up. She was a champ. She got 3 shots and a little drink, and she did very well. She cried pretty hard, but she was settled down and smiling before we left the office. Here are her stats... I will include her 2 and 4 month info so we can compare:

2 months:
length - 24.75 inches (95 percentile)
weight- 12 lbs 2 oz. (85 percentile)
head- 41 (90 percentile)

4 months:
length- 26.5 inches (95 percentile)
weight- 16 lbs 8.5 oz (95 percentile)
head- 44 (95 percentile)

Wowee! She has gained 4 pounds since her 2 month appointment! No wonder she is getting up to eat so much at night. Dr. Wilkes said she is the size of an average 6 month old. She is a growing girl. We love you Scarlett.

Brunch with Scarlett

What a wonderful morning we had. Some of my mother-in-law's darling friends hosted a brunch to celebrate Scarlett. It was full of wonderful food, rich fellowship and lots of neat gifts for Scarlett. Each person also said a prayer of blessing for our little girl. It was very touching. There are lots of pictures to share, so I will make my words short. But, every little detail was perfect and it is a day I will remember forever and a day that I cannot wait to tell Scarlett about when she is older. Oh, and Scarlett was a little angel... she is a party girl! I am so thankful for the generosity (both in wisdom and in monetary) of the lovely ladies that came to celebrate with us. And here are tons of pictures of our time together...

The wonderful hostesses.

Some of the Owen girls (we are missing Ashton and Sarah and soon little Emma).

Scarlett was chatting it up here with Mrs. Henderson.

Oh how we love Aunt Ryan.

Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Logsdon meeting Scarlett.

Christy who graduated with Mitch and I played beautiful background music on the piano. It was such a treat to get to see her!

Just wanted to show ya'll the beautiful decorations. These are some very talented hostesses!

The lovely ladies we were privileged to spend the morning with.

Yummy!

Such nice gifts... the theme was items for Scarlett's library and tea-party accessories!

Here is the sweet girl just taking it all in. (that quilt she is laying on is my baby quilt that my mom made for me... it is so sentimental and i love to see Scarlett laying on it)

Eating her dress! oh my!

Scarlett got so many fun things.

LOVE this lady... Lori Bordas, my dear friend and co-worker. xoxo

Sweet, sweet Linda McEvoy. Loved seeing her. (hope you found the blog okay Mrs. McEvoy!)

Thank you again ladies for a fun, fun time!

p.s. my sweet Mama (aka. Nonni) had to slip out early to be at a family funeral, so we missed having her in the pictures, but she was there in spirit!
