Mysteriousness and the little mover.


Well, my pity party is over. SOOOO sorry for that! I am actually a little embarrassed I even wrote about it... God truly does work in mysterious ways. No, the bike did not miraculously appear. It is gone. However, God has been showing me a lot of things and especially did so through yesterday's sermon. You can watch it here.
Don't you love the way the Holy Spirit works? I heard it referred to once as a gentle dove that lands on you heart and ever so gently flutters there as to say, "Hey, I want to tell you something." I have also experienced it as an elephant that plops right down, but I like the dove analogy better :)
Anyhow, I realized it is ok to mourn over the fact that this world is depraved and full of all sorts of godlessness...but what am I going to do about it? I will get back you on that!

Scarlett has recently become quite the little mover using the little walker my parents got her for Christmas. You can see just a little bit in this video... but mostly you can see how sweet our girl is :)


We enjoyed a low-key day just getting ready for the week ahead.

A thief and Saturday visitors.


We woke up to something not so good Saturday morning..... Mitch's bike (his primary mode of transportation because we are a 1 car family) had been stolen. It was taken right off of our front porch. The thing about our front porch is that it is practically another room in our house because we love to be out there so much. It felt so eery knowing that someone had done this. It is sad because Mitch uses his bike everyday. It was actually a gift from my parents for Mitch's college graduation. He has ridden it since the very beginning of dental school. I cannot tell you how many times a week friends text me and say, "I just saw Mitch on his bike!" He rides it all the time. Well, I know there are MUCH worse things in life and I am totally not trying to have a pity party here.... I just really let it ruin my day and now I hate that I did that.

One of the reasons I am so frustrated with myself that I let it effect me so much is because some of my favorite people came to visit. Ryan rode in town with her darling room mate Crista who had an interview at UK's med school (Hi Crista, if you are reading!!!). And then KT came up too. We worked on Scarlett's birthday invitations (I know, I know... it is not for a while, but I wanted to hand make them so we had to get started!) I am just so made at myself for letting the whole bike thing ruin our afternoon together. This might sound stupid, but I learned so many lessons just from this bike being stolen.

Here we are hard at work on the invites! I will be sure to post more soon about Scar's party planning.... I will divulge the theme, it is based off of a little smocked bishop dress I got her for Christmas that is pink and white gingham with zebras!

Play-date!

Scarlett and I have not been able to make it to the play-dates we normally go to on Fridays the last couple weeks, so Kingston and Kristin came over for a little mini play-date. The moment Kristin brought Kingston through the door Scarlett could not wait to get her little hands on him. Kristin and I laugh and laugh! It is so fun to watch our sweet babies together. But, I have to tell you that it totally reiterates that Scarlett has NO knowledge of anyone else's personal space. She is just like her daddy. I tell Mitch ALL the time he is a "close talker." We had a fun time and then our families went out and ate pizza. Nothing like pizza on a Friday night! Here are our little cuties...

Kristin is probably having to fend off Scarlett here... she was determined!


We call this Scarlett's "flash face".... every time the flash on the camera would go off, she would make this face!

Thanks for a fun Friday, Kristin! I am so thankful for our friendship. Who would have known this time last year (when we were pregnant and HUGE (ok, maybe that was just me. ha!)) that we would be running after these sweet crawling babies just a year later!

The thrill of the hunt.


One of my most favorite things is in town.... Little Treasures Consignment Sale! My mom and I love the thrill of finding a good deal ... and boy oh boy did we find some this time!
Here is all my loot:

Scar is playing with some of her new toys I found. I don't know why I am always so surprised but she LOVES new toys.
Clothes are the main reason why I love these sales. I really like to dress Scarlett more traditionally than trendy, so the clothes I really like are usually in boutiques which means the price is much higher. But, at these sales they have smocked things, monogramable (I don't think that is even a word, ha! you know what I mean ;) ) outfits and southern style tradition baby clothes for amazing prices! I just don't think there is any shame in shopping consignment sales for your kids clothes. Especially when they are growing SO fast and may not even get to where them for an entire season. Here are some of my most favorite things I picked up....

Strawberry smocked bishop with matching bow for our little strawberry blonde!

I love this one this swing top and pants set... Mitch says it looks like a bath mat! It is handmade and was only $2.

I was SO excited to find this Peaches n' Cream Easter egg dress for only $5!

I loved this simply white swiss-dot dress for a picture on the beach.


I love this little paisley blue and green romper. Mitch is always asking me not to dress Scarlett in all pink, so I thought this was perfect!


This is a Kelly's Kids outfit that was only $3.50! My mom is going to monogram it. It is so much more fun to monogram something you got for $3.50 rather than $30!

Here is little missy herself. She stands up ALL the time. She is also amazing me as she has started pushing this little cart my parents got her around the room. I think walking is definitely coming sooner than we realized!


This little busy bee did not have time to look at her mama... she was on a mission :)

Swinging from the tree tops!


As the weather has been warming up, we have been so excited to get a little swing hung in the backyard for Scarlett. I have to show y'all the beginning of the process because Mitch risked life and limb (literally!!!!) to get this thing hung. He had to cut down a few branches to get the swing in just the right position.
I asked him to please wait until I could get out there to help him but before I knew it I looked outside and saw this...

And then 2 seconds later, this!

Mitch! You lumberjack! What an amazing Daddy you are. (he did admit this was not smart after he came down and the adrenaline wore off. ha!)
We ended up finding some instructions here that were very helpful for finishing our "project."

Needless to say, Scar LOVES her swing! Thanks Mitch!!!

Did somebody say designer jeans?

Scarlett is quite spoiled by her aunts. Aunt Ryan picked up a pair of Joe's (Baby) Jeans on clearance for her at T.J. Maxx (another testament of the greatness of T.J. Maxx, ha!) and they are too cute for words on her! I asked Scarlett to strike a pose and had to show y'all what I got...



The lighting was incredible while she was standing by the front door, so I had to snap some more...

Mitch actually got this one, so I cannot take the credit (he is good!!!)

Happy Valentines Day (a day late)!


Happy Valentines Day from me and my little cherub... she totally fits the part with these chubby legs...


I want to say something to all of the single girls in my life in honor of the "day of love." First of all, you are amazing. I can think of at least 5-7 girls in my life who may be feeling a little down today as many people celebrate what they may not have found just yet. You are cherished and loved by so many, especially me. Please take heart in knowing this is my prayer for you:

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you
with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power,
together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long

Here is my Valentine gift from Mitch and Scarlett. A pink, LONG shirt (I am obsessed with long shirts), turquoise earrings and a bag of "tiny Toblerone." They took a little Daddy-Daughter date to Target on Saturday while I was at a baby shower for my friend Meredith. How sweet is that? Mitch cracked me up BIG time when, right before he gave me my gift, he said, "You could wear this with white shorts, it would look really good." HA! What? Since when has this white legged girl ever worn white shorts. That man makes me laugh. I think jeans will look just fine babe :)

Here was Scarlett's little "gift" to me... I put her in her play pen and ran to the bathroom for nothing short of 5 seconds and came back to find this...


The little "cherub" sitting in a sea of multi-grain Cheerios. Oh my. She somehow reached the bag and thought it would be helpful to get her own snack.
Well, she did look so cute wearing the Valentine bib my mom embroidered for her.

Mitch and I had a low-key night together. He had an intramural basketball game (reliving the glory days!! ha!) so I put Scarlett to bed by myself. He picked up Papa Murphy's Pizza for us earlier so I baked that (they had a special heart-shaped pizza!) and made a spinach salad with ripe pears and poppy seed dressing. We just sat at our little dining room table and tried to remember every Valentine's Day we have spent together. This was our 8th. We got 7 out of 8.

Homecoming Royalty

Mitch's younger sister Ashton and litte brother Kavin were part of the Homecoming Court at their school this weekend. Ashton looked beautiful as a Princess candidate and Kavin was so handsome as the crown bearer. ha! Here are some pictures of our family royals...
