"Summertiiiiimme, everybody's feeling sassy!!!"

Okay, so Mitch has changed the words to the popular Rascal Flats song so it is more appropriate for Scarlett. ha! Just wanted to share a little of our summer preparation. First of all, Scar and I have not gone outside once this week because it has been 1,000,000 degrees here! We haven't even been swinging :( But we have been making plans for our summer fun. After Mitch finishes (and passes! ... positive thinking!) his boards, we are heading to the finish line to meet Uncle Chaz! Holla!!! We are going to the beach for some much needed vaca and will meet Chaz and his friends when they complete their amazing journey by putting their front bike tires in the Atlantic Ocean in Yorktown, Virginia. They have worked incredibly hard for an amazing cause. You can follow Chaz's blog at http://chazvittitow.tumblr.com/
His posts are great... I end up laughing and crying with each post.

So, here are some of Scarlett's preparations for her summer wardrobe... LET's GO SWIMMING!!! But NO sun-bathing!

This&That

- I don't know if it is the full moon or what, but Scarlett has not been sleeping as well as she usually does. I am exhausted!

- Scarlett and I enjoyed a very fun visit from our friend Brandy and her darling little girl Carley (Carley will turn 1 on July 20th) earlier this week. It was so fun to see Carley walk around and explore... I just could not get over how cute she was! I wish I had a picture to show, but I was busy with Miss Scarlett the whole time!

- Mitch's application has been sent off for his Ugandan visa! He leaves in less than a month.

- Oh my, I almost forgot to mention... Callie got a hair cut, big time! Haha! She was filthy and totally matted after spending 24 hours a day in Nonnie and Papaw's pond for a week, so a nice visit to the groomer was a must! Here she is.... her curly ears will have to grow back in.

Thoughtful gifts from people we love.

Just wanted to show some sweet gifts that were given to Scarlett...

This is a darling outfit Scarlett's Great Grandmother (we call her Gran) sent. It is so neat, it has little ribbons on it that make it really unique. Just wanted to show Gran how cute our girl looks in it...

That smiles makes my heart skip a beat!

Sweet face.

This is a very fun gift that Aunt Barbie brought when she came to visit last week... a horsey! Mitch helped Scarlett name her horse; meet Ole' Buck...

I know she looks quite disturbed in this picture, but she actually loves this big guy.

I walked out of the room for 1 second and came back in to find this...ha! Daddy thought it was time for a pony ride.

What more could these girls ask for?

(okay this is a terrible picture of me, but who cares because look how cute Mitch is!!!)

Mitch is such a precious, sweet, loving, fun, sacrificial, thoughtful......... (the list could go on and on) Father! Seriously, I do not know what more Scarlett and I could ask for. So, on Mitch's first Father's Day, I just want to say, "Mitch, I love you and thought I could imagine what a wonderful Daddy you were going to be to our precious baby girl and you are more AMAZING than I could have EVER imagined. Thank you for everything you do to put Scarlett and I ahead of yourself. You show us Jesus everyday and WE LOVE YOU!!!!" Happy Fathers Day, honey. Hoping we will celebrate 100 more together!

Wordless Wednesday (or maybe not so wordless)

Well, actually today's word is WOOHOO! Why you might ask? Because Scarlett has taken 2 naps already today. Mind you, they last about 30 minutes... but I don't care, we are making progress. She was awake from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. yesterday, ah! Seriously, she did not shut her beautiful blue eyes once, I was watching. So, this morning I was determined to start out on the right foot. Well, with help from Daddy (who is officially a 3rd year now (holla!) and is currently studying from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. everyday for his boards which he will take July 7th) we did it. I have been trying very hard to implement the Baby Wise eat-wake-sleep pattern and this is the first day I can say we are actually implementing the sleep portion. So, I thought I would show you my sweet little napper...

And I have to give a little thanks to Graco for making the most amazing sound machine ever... I think it helps so much. It is the little thing in this picture that I think resembles R2D2 (am I spelling that right?). My picture did not turn out very well, because I wanted you all to see the darling pillow my precious friend Jill made for Scarlett. I will have to take another one some day. Go here to see Jill's amazing work: http://www.jillgibsonhamilton.com/The_Scout_House/Home___The_Scout_House_by_Jill_G..html

I love reading my friends' blogs, and there is something I would like to implement that my friend Aidan does on her blog. She has something she calls 'Mosaic' which is basically a short concise way to say what is/has been going on lately in bullet point form (Lori, if you are reading this...haha, bullet points!!!) Because mommy-hood is so busy and I would like to update (and document for memory's sake) what is going on in our life, I figured this will be a great way to do so. I will call my report, "This&That." So here is the first:

This&That:

--Scarlett is 10 weeks old now. She is so observant and loves to "talk." She would "talk" all day if she could! She LOVES bath-time. It is so cute to watch her little face light up as soon as I put her in the tub. She just kicks and smiles like there is no tomorrow. She got her 2 month shots last week which was quite traumatic for all 3 of us. She did great though. She sleeps about 6-7 hours through the night before needing to eat. She is just a little angel, except for when she is hungry.

-- Like I said, Mitch is studying for his written boards which you take after your second year. He "finished" up things at school yesterday and is now on a studying warpath. He goes to the library to study which makes me sad, but seriously, he could get nothing done at home because Scarlett and I would beg for his attention. He is amazingly focused and works so hard...goodness, I love that man! He is going to be traveling to Uganda in late July on a dental mission trip with the organization I work for (www.mpowerapproach.org). They will be training 6 Ugandan believers to be community dentists. Very cool!

-- This may seem random, but our little next door neighbor Ms. Jacqueline informed us a couple weeks ago that she is in the final stages of bone cancer. It broke our hearts because we had no idea. So, we go check on her several times a day because she lives alone and has no family. She loves the Lord though so I love to hear her talk about heaven...it is so sweet. Just yesterday she was telling Mitch that she hopes when she gets to heaven that she can wash Jesus' feet. Precious.

-- I know there is so much more to say, but my little napper is now awake,
so good-bye for now!

Here are some recent pictures of our little doll baby...

Just a swingin'

This is one of my favorite sights... to look out on the front porch and
see Mitch and Scarlett just a swingin'
We have oiled the swing hooks twice now, but they still get a pretty good squeak going by the end of the day since we swing A LOT. Oh well, we just might drive our neighbors crazy.

This is Scarlett's favorite napping spot. Can you tell? Such peaceful sleep...

Mitch does most of the swinging.... it is so sweet. The other day he reminded me of a country song (Just a Swingin' sung by John Anderson) that is perfect for our girl. It is perfect because it is about a girl named Charlotte Johnson, so we just insert Scarlett Jean and sing it to her. Here are the lyrics... better yet, here is John Anderson singing it, hhahahahaha!

8 weeks old and a visit from Aunt Ryan

Scarlett is 8 weeks old today! My oh my. She has been feeling better as far as her little cold goes, but she was still acting funny so we took her to the pediatrician. He looked at her ears and throat and said both were perfect. He then heard her little tummy and said she has a stomach virus. It all made sense when he explained it to us. So, I have been trying very hard to make her comfy... 2 sleepless nights is not fun though. Thank you Lord that she usually sleeps 6-7 hours when she is feeling good.
So, after we got back from the pediatrician's, Aunt Ryan came by for a celebratory visit. We were celebrating because she passed her state board and is now a licensed Esthetician! Holla!!! She is going to be amazing....anyone who wants an incredible facial or skincare/nutritional consulting should look her up. She is still interviewing, but I will be sure to post where she ends up setting up.
It had been a little while since Ryan had seen her little Skeetle-bug (as she has fondly named Scarlett) so we had to have a little photo-shoot! We love Aunt Ryan SO much.

Little Skeetle was fast asleep when Ryan arrived...

But that didn't last long!

Mommy still got diaper duty, of course...

Open wide!

Hahaha!!! Scarlett obviously doesn't know what to think of this fun!
