A couple things.

I have been so caught up with everyday life (cleaning, changing diapers, cooking, laundry, and REPEAT!) that several days have slipped by without a post! It is totally my intention to post every night about what each day contained, but that is just not reality right now so... oh well.

Here are a couple things I have been meaning to post....

Birthday Breakfast
Scarlett's birthday breakfast was very special. It was made special in part by a sweet gift she received from her Nonni and Pepaw who were all the way on the other side of the world on her big day. This recorded book has made its mark forever! We (meaning mommy too!) love it.

The words of this book are what I wrote on her 1 year post. It is a children's hymn from 1850.
I love what it says. Scarlett just smiled and smiled as she heard Nonni and Pepaw's voices reading to her. It was precious and we will cherish this book and its meaning forever.

It was so nice because Mitch did not have to be at school until 11:00 that morning so he got to enjoy some time with the birthday girl.

As you can see, she took her birthday cards very seriously....

And as for the menu .... pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese, blueberries and whole organic cows milk (which she is NOT interested in).

Sorry to post so many things about Scarlett's birthday, but it was sort of a big deal, ha!!!

And here is the little wild woman herself, driving her cozy coupe she received from Lolli and Pop. She loves it! Although in this video she is a little distracted by Callie (what's new?!?). And please excuse the nasty old concrete slab in our back yard ...we are in the middle of tearing it apart. Watch out NASCAR!!!!!

bright & beautiful

A look at Scarlett Jean's 1st year of life....

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful, God made them one and all.

Every flower that opens, every bird that sings. He made their pretty colors, He made their little wings.

The sunrise in the morning, the moonbeams late at night, All the tiny twinkling stars that flicker oh so bright.

The snowflakes in the winter, the raindrops in the spring, the summer sun and autumn wind, each amazing thing.

But that's not all, there is so much more!
God made each person too. The miracle of family, the wonder that is YOU!

Of all things wise and wonderful, all things that live and grow He made you BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL from head to tippy toe.

May God bless you, may He keep you. May love never be too far. And as you grow, I hope you'll know how wonderful you are.

Happy 1st Birthday Scarlett!!!! We love you more than you may ever know. We thank God for giving us YOU. We cannot believe how fast you have grown. You are and always will be our precious baby girl. Happy Birthday baby girl... and many more!!!!!

Crossing the miles...

Wearing Daddy's hat!

Tomorrow is the BIG day!!! April 6th, 2011... Scarlett's (real) 1st birthday. I cannot believe it!!!! I also cannot help but think about what I was doing this time last year.... sitting in a hospital bed, being induced....which did not work, ha! Here is April 5, 2010 just so you can go there with me for a moment :)

Scarlett has been receiving some really sweet birthday gifts which crossed many miles to reach our door.

Here she is in the darling outfit Gran sent her all the way from Tulsa, OK. How cute is this?

Thank you Gran!!!!

And here is the sweet dress, hair clip and sunglasses (we did not manage to get the socks on!) Scarlett's Uncle Matt, Aunt Sarah, Cousin Matthew and Matthew's Grandma and Grandpa (Ron & Oleta) sent all the way from Portland, OR. Isn't it so cute?

We love it, thank you all SO much! Scarlett's Uncle Matt is serving our country in Iraq right now. Matt, if there is any chance you are reading... we love you and miss you and are so proud of you. We are praying you are safe and that you come home soon to your precious wife and son! Thank you for fighting for our freedom.

Happy Tuesday to y'all!

Greeting card.

I was in a little coffee shop once that had the most darling greeting cards. They all had a retro feel and then had a really catchy phrase to go along with the 1950's picture on the front. One in particular caught my glance. It had a 1950's housewife on the front. She looked distressed with her hand dramatically placed over her forehead, complete with a strand of pearls around her neck. Inside it said, "I just don't have time for the nervous breakdown I deserve." That made me laugh, for whatever reason. Well, that card kept coming to my mind this weekend. My poor Scarlett ran her first fever and it was challenging. It began Thursday and by Friday afternoon it was up to 103 degrees. So, after a visit to the pediatrician just before the weekend, she was diagnosed with a virus. I have to say that as pressing as the weekend was (lack of sleep, lots of tears, etc.) I am so thankful for a healthy baby. I cannot imagine if that was our everyday. My heart goes out to the moms and dads who are dealing with ongoing sickness in their children. She is still not 100%, but is on the mend.

We supported our Kentucky Wildcats and are sad they lost in the final four..... Here we are enjoying the gorgeous Saturday sunshine before the game.

I had so much fun Saturday as I got to celebrate with our pastor's wife Erica at her baby shower. They are expecting their 3rd baby, but 1st girl! Eden Joy :) Doesn't Erica look great!

Here is our little sickie...

Love those chubby legs!

Reading with Daddy.

And into anything and everything.

Easter is just around the corner and I am loving all of the spring colors!
Here is Scarlett's Easter dress. I am somewhat embarrassed and proud to say I got it for only $6.00! It was quite a find at my favorite consignment sale. It is a nice Peaches N' Cream dress and hardly looks like it was even worn. My mom monogrammed it which made it perfect. I am just looking for a little cardigan to be the finishing touch.
