Weekend projects and corralling the kiddos.

We are still working on our backyard and are no where near being finished... So we took a trip to Lowe's yesterday to purchase paint for our shed. Not that exciting. But it is always fun to go out when you can dress up your little girl!

I thought Scar looked so cute in this little outfit. We received it as a gift when she was 4 months so I have been looking forward to the day we could put it on. It is really cute because it has a casual feel and there is a little birdie on the front of the shirt...

I don't know what that expression was for! I was laughing all day because everywhere we went people would say something about her bow. At one point I heard a lady say (with a really country accent), "Hey, look at that big bow on that babies head." And then she laughed. And then I laughed because she did not know I heard her. ha!

We have not painted yet, but just another thing to add to the to-do list.

This morning we worked the nursery at church. Working the nursery always provides much entertainment. We pretty much laughed the entire time! We had 10 total so our hands were full. Next time I need to bring my camera because it is so funny. Scarlett was SO good. She just played and every couple minutes she would try to take someone else's paci. She does LOVE her paci!

Friday fun!

2 fun things happened yesterday....

1.) A playdate/lunch/walk with Kristin and Kingston at the park.

How cute is Kristin? She brought birthday hats for our April babies to celebrate their birthdays. They are only 2 1/2 weeks apart. They are SO funny together. We had to keep Scarlett from putting her finger in Kingston's mouth, it was funny.

Kingston wanted that thing OFF of his head!!! ha!

I guess bow training is paying off because Scarlett did not mind one bit.

And I had to document this. Kristin brought Scarlett a birthday card and me this card...

Inside it says, "Wow... that's it just wow." It was to celebrate us making it through an entire year with babies. So cute! She and I have been through a lot this first year and I am SO thankful to have had such an amazing friend to share it with. Thanks Kristin!!! But, I have to say what is most funny about our little "celebration" is that later that afternoon we crowned ourselves the worst moms in the world when our babies came home with their first sunburns!!!! AH! Can you believe that? Horrible.

2.) A visit/dinner/cupcakes with KT

I don't know what it is but whenever any of the ducks get together (ducks are my girlfriends from college) we have to eat Freschetta Pizza...
So, KT and I kept the tradition going. We went with an Italian theme for dinner. Here is KT making her famous Risotto... she uses an authentic Italian technique, it was delish!

I am embarrassed to say that while we cooked I let Scarlett go through my purse and the diaper bag to occupy her! Here she is going to town... whew that was a mess!

We had a lovely dinner together, put Scarlett to bed and then KT and I went "out on the town" which consisted of Toys R' Us and T.J. Maxx :) Action packed, huh?

Although Scarlett went to bed, there were birthday treats waiting for her from Aunt KT when she woke up in the morning....

No surprise there, she loved it!!! Thank you KT... for being such a precious friend and AUNT!

A couple things.

I have been so caught up with everyday life (cleaning, changing diapers, cooking, laundry, and REPEAT!) that several days have slipped by without a post! It is totally my intention to post every night about what each day contained, but that is just not reality right now so... oh well.

Here are a couple things I have been meaning to post....

Birthday Breakfast
Scarlett's birthday breakfast was very special. It was made special in part by a sweet gift she received from her Nonni and Pepaw who were all the way on the other side of the world on her big day. This recorded book has made its mark forever! We (meaning mommy too!) love it.

The words of this book are what I wrote on her 1 year post. It is a children's hymn from 1850.
I love what it says. Scarlett just smiled and smiled as she heard Nonni and Pepaw's voices reading to her. It was precious and we will cherish this book and its meaning forever.

It was so nice because Mitch did not have to be at school until 11:00 that morning so he got to enjoy some time with the birthday girl.

As you can see, she took her birthday cards very seriously....

And as for the menu .... pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese, blueberries and whole organic cows milk (which she is NOT interested in).

Sorry to post so many things about Scarlett's birthday, but it was sort of a big deal, ha!!!

And here is the little wild woman herself, driving her cozy coupe she received from Lolli and Pop. She loves it! Although in this video she is a little distracted by Callie (what's new?!?). And please excuse the nasty old concrete slab in our back yard ...we are in the middle of tearing it apart. Watch out NASCAR!!!!!

bright & beautiful

A look at Scarlett Jean's 1st year of life....

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful, God made them one and all.

Every flower that opens, every bird that sings. He made their pretty colors, He made their little wings.

The sunrise in the morning, the moonbeams late at night, All the tiny twinkling stars that flicker oh so bright.

The snowflakes in the winter, the raindrops in the spring, the summer sun and autumn wind, each amazing thing.

But that's not all, there is so much more!
God made each person too. The miracle of family, the wonder that is YOU!

Of all things wise and wonderful, all things that live and grow He made you BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL from head to tippy toe.

May God bless you, may He keep you. May love never be too far. And as you grow, I hope you'll know how wonderful you are.

Happy 1st Birthday Scarlett!!!! We love you more than you may ever know. We thank God for giving us YOU. We cannot believe how fast you have grown. You are and always will be our precious baby girl. Happy Birthday baby girl... and many more!!!!!
