A whole new meaning...

Whew. This morning has already gone totally like I did NOT expect. It started at 3:30 a.m. when Scarlett joined us in our bed because she was running a fever. Her symptoms: congestion, a little cough and nose running like a virtual faucet. Unfortunately I know just the culprit of her nasty bug... the church nursery. I hate to admit it, but it is like clockwork people. So, while getting her situated and medicated, I mentioned to Mitch that it seemed really chilly in our room. He checked the thermostat in the hallway and it was reading 65 degrees inside our house although we had it set to stay at 72. AH! Thankfully we have a really great space heater (thank you momma!!!), so we set that on high in our room and we all rested comfortably. Four hours later when we woke up the hallway thermostat read at 59 degrees. Our heat was out, obviously. I called the heat/air company and they put us on their list. Mitch showered and left for school because he had a patient this morning. Scarlett and I set-up camp in our bedroom and waited for a call from the heat/air company. Thankfully they got the part we needed and fixed our furnace in just 30 minutes! Thank you Lord. So, we are back in business... warmth is oh so sweet. Waking up to 59 degrees really puts a whole new meaning to the word cold. So glad that morning is behind us!!! Now, onto the weekend but first a little update from our week here on the range...

Wednesday we enjoyed a play date with two of SJ's little friends... Kingston and Kyleigh.

Here are the little "vultures" gathered round... Did somebody say puffs???

The slide is always a BIG hit :)

How sweet are these two girls? Kyleigh was passing out her "goodbye" hugs.
Thanks to Kristin for hosting us!!!! Sorry about the cookies :( That's another story for another day, but let's just say if anybody saw a platter of smashed chocolate chip cookies on Nicholasville Rd this week... well, they were mine!

Little missy covered a lot of ground in her kitchen this week.
She is really enjoying the sliceable, wooden Melissa & Doug food...
Oh, and did I mention Scarlett is now receiving phone calls? Well, only from her Daddy last time I checked :)

Thursday. Well, the forecast was looking pretty cold and we could hardly stand Callie being in the living room for more than 15 minutes (bless her heart!), so it was bath time and some teeth cleaning for this ole' girl! Callie was a little embarrassed with the current state of her hygiene, so Scarlett stepped in for this shot :)

Fluffy and fresh, little Miss Callie settled in for a warm nap on one of my favorite beach towels. SJ made sure the heater was turned on for her favorite canine.

Something came up about Scarlett's belly button I think...

And now, it's Friday. Thank you LORD!! A three day weekend for this bunch is very eagerly anticipated. Hoping for a great weekend for your's too :)

No hurry.

I love days where Scarlett and I can just play, play, play. Today was one of those. SJ and I were playing away this morning for hours when all of the sudden I looked at the clock and realized it was already lunch time and then nap time was soon to follow.

Scarlett has been enjoying her Christmas presents so much. We rearranged her room to accomodate all of her new, fun things!

SJ has become quite the little cook...
She is always making something new for her Daddy and I to try.

I just love to watch her pretend and play.

It seems as though she is beginning to understand the balance of being a mommy and running a household :)

There is always something or someone to check on...

I think what I love most about days like today is that they remind me of something I subconsciously think about a lot. That is that I am in no hurry for Scarlett to grow up. Of course I want her to learn and develop and grow healthy and become confident. But, for now I am loving today with my sweet 21 month old baby girl.

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

little diva

Mitch took a little diva with him when he went to run an errand for me this afternoon.
Too bad she doesn't have any cheeks to hold her sunglasses up. ha!
Sweet smile!!

my current project and couch therapy

I am so excited about my current project -- a needlepoint belt for Mitch. This was my Christmas present to him. I got to design it especially for him at this really neat local shop The Eye of the Needle. I think it is fun to have something to piddle at when I have the opportunity :)

Mitch and I worked the nursery this morning at church. We had 19 babies under 2 years old. AHHH!!! It was total pandemonium. But we were thankful that 19 mommies/daddies could go and listen to a sermon without interruption and hopefully have a more intimate relationship with Jesus because we were wrangling their sweet babies for an hour.

So, after a somewhat hectic morning, Scarlett and I needed a little couch therapy....

Can I just say that when I saw this picture above I told Mitch that I wish my hair was that big in real life. He said, "I know honey." Who doesn't love big hair??? Surely I am not the only one.

We have been working on Scarlett's vocabulary and she is doing so well. She tries to repeat what we say and most of the time does a really good job. I love how expressive she is.

My parents got SJ this really neat DVD for Christmas and it is currently on repeat at our house. I actually really enjoy it too. I would highly recommend Signing Time if you are looking for something new to do with your little one. It is educational, fun and they get get to move around and get their wiggles out too. The Zoo Train is our personal favorite.

Okay, this is for my Grandmoo if you are reading... She sent this little costume for Scarlett. My parents came up for a quick visit and delivered it to her. It is a Lalaloopsy outfit (I am not totally familiar with this brand, I just know their dolls are popular). Anyhow, it was sitting on my desk in the living room and Scarlett got fixated on it tonight so I put it on her...

Thanks Grandmoo, this really tickles our little "fancy dancer's" fancy!

I am not a big TV watcher... but Mitch had the TV on a little bit ago and an infomercial for Hot Booties came on. They sound divine. I need a pair!!!

I hope you are wrapping up a nice weekend and have a great week ahead :)

Saturday sweetness

We had our first relaxing Saturday in a long time today. Ahhh, it was like a breath of fresh air.

We woke up and I said, "Mitch, what time is it?" He responded that it was 8:20. What??? That is the latest we have slept in months and months!! We actually had to wake Scarlett up when we went in her room. Crazy!

We had a big breakfast... pancakes, scrambled eggs and green juice via the Vitamix!
Here is my little helper in her new apron from Aunt Sarah and Uncle Matt. She loves it!!!

the spinach distributor....

(this is something my mom makes at her house and we love it!! it is super easy too.)
Green Juice
1 handful of organic spinach
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 banana
blend in vitamix on high for 20-25 seconds.
I doubled this for our breakfast. It is so yummy and is a boost of vitamins to start your day!!
 Green juice all around!

It was SO pretty and sunny so we went on a walk...

Daddy knows how to play fun!!

A little leaf collecting....

I had to include this picture... There is nothing like the Daddy of a daughter. This is how I found Mitch when I went in SJ's room this afternoon: a strand of pearls around his neck, 2 baby dolls in hand and rocking :)

a romantic lunch, my new kitchen gadget and confessions

Happy Friday y'all!!! Whew. It has been a funny week here on the range. We were trying to get back into our routine... I think we are just about there.
Scarlett and I had a delicious and fun lunch date today with Kristin, Kingston and two of the most darlings sisters I know, Mallory and Morgan at the Chick-Fil-A :)

Here are the 2 little sweeties that I love so much!!!
Kingston looks thrilled, doesn't he? Ha!

Scarlett was SOOOO excited to see him. She kept saying over and over "Kin-ton?, Kin-ton?" before they arrived. Well, let me just tell you that this lunch turned romantic faster than any of us could have guessed. These two sweeties kissed, in public, right on the lips!!! Kristin has a video of it which I will be sure to post as soon as I get it. It is priceless.

Okay, so you know how as you get older you don't get surprises for Christmas anymore? It has been that way for this girl for a while. Let's just say I know what I like and I let Mitch/my momma know :) Well this year it was quite the contrary. My mom and dad surprised me big-time this year with something I did not even tell them I wanted...

A VITAMIX!!!! YEAH!!! I have admired my mom's and sister's for several years now. I can't believe I have one of my own!

I know it may seem silly, but I feel like this new 'gadget' just brought my kitchen to a whole new level... You can make incredible smoothies, salad dressings, soups and, get this, there is a separate container and with a "dry" blade so you can grind your own wheat to make homemade bread. Grind my own wheat?!?! Watch our Laura Ingalls Wilder, Erin Owen has a vitamix!!!
I will be sure to keep y'all posted on all of my adventures in the kitchen with this new-fangled thing :)

Okay, I haven't done this in a while and I find it slightly medicinal for myself, so I have some Friday confessions:
--- I used the word quasi twice today in two separate conversations and I am not even sure what it means. I told Mitch this and he just looked at me... maybe he was thinking, "uh oh, she left the house."
--- Water just tastes better when you drink it out of a tervis tumbler. Amen?
--- I love to be super dramatic sometimes when I talk to Mitch and tell him about things I saw or realized while he was at school that day. To my close friends, I know you are like "Oh, we just cannot even imagine..." Well sorry, it's fun!!!
--- I am in the process of cleaning out Scarlett's closet (for the 40th time since her birth!) and I could just sob the whole time. How can she be so grown up?!?
--- I drank a tea today at lunch and I feel like I could seriously shoot through the roof of our house right now. I am a little sensitive to caffeine, especially since I rarely have any.

And finally, I will leave you with this sweet face. I was unpacking the vitamix box on the living room floor while SJ napped today and Callie was at my side the entire time. Actually, I think she wished I would have just put her in my lap like old times. Bless her heart. You know they say no one loves you like your dog does...

Have a fabulous weekend!!
