Double treasures.

Scarlett and I have been away from our typical routine for the past couple days. We got to spend some time with my parents while the very best (in my opinion) consignment sale is going on in their town. I love to hunt for treasures and boy did I get to! My dad travels a lot so it is always nice when he is home for a little while and we can just be together. To me, that is a treasure in itself. So, that means...

Evening walks with Peepaw...
And special, 'made to order' breakfasts by Nonni....
Thank you Mama and Daddy for loving our sweet girl so much. She is crazy about both of you!!!

Now.... onto some of the treasures I found at the sale. Hands down the best find -- Pink, real leather cowgirl boots!!! Perfectly Scarlett's size for winter... $6.00!
Can you tell these boots are made for walkin'

Another fun find -- lion costume. $5.00 The authentic roar to go along with it, priceless :) And boy was Daddy glad to have his little cub home!!

Another week begins

Another weekend rolls by and it is Monday again. I can remember when I worked full-time outside the home, Mondays were so hectic. There were phone calls to return and lots of tasks to catch-up on and begin. I love Mondays now. They are usually my laundry day. We started off this Monday with breakfast...
Scarlett and I are loving Honey Nut Chex right now. They are so good.

We enjoyed the lovely morning on our walk with Aunt Barbie at the Arboretum. This is something we love to do.
Scarlett's favorite part is when we "cool down" by walking through the garden because she gets to run around :)

We love the Praise Baby collection at our house. Scarlett received "My Father's World" as a gift and she really enjoys watching it because it is videos of real children (and very few cartoons) set to worship music. It is so sweet to watch her little actions as she watches and listens... here she is in action.

Wearing white.

We had fun celebrating with Chaz at his White Coat Ceremony on Friday night. It is a special "right of passage" that I think he was looking forward to.

Our 2 dental students.... one who is just beginning and another who is almost finished.

I thank God for my little brother. He is so precious to me!

The whole gang minus my dad who was on his way home from Nigeria. We are so glad he is home safe!
Nonni (my mom), Ryan, Chaz, Scarlett & I and Mitch

Scarlett had to support the Cats!

Here is Mitch and I at his White Coat Ceremony 3 years ago. It is hard to believe it has already been that long. And to think that Scarlett was not even in our lives yet...!

Playing at the park and family dinner.

My sweet friend Meredith and I met at the park today to walk, each lunch and let our kiddos play. Meredith's little boy Collin is just a few months older than Scarlett. He was not feeling 100% after having a flu shot the day before, but he was such a good sport hanging with us girls!

Apparently Scarlett had a thing or two to tell him about his matchbox cars....

I am beginning to believe my girl is a little bit bossy. I don't know where she could have gotten that from... don't look at me!

Collin was sweet enough to share his yogurt bites with my little 'hoover.' She may be prissy, but she keeps a very healthy appetite.

Here are the 2 cuties crossing the wobbly bridge.

And down the slide they go...
They made it! Look at that sweet boy.
Thanks for a fun "date" Meredith! But, I cannot thank you for introducing me to Sonic's peanut butter fudge milk shake... this is not going to be good :)
P.S. Kristin and Kingston, we missed you both!!!!!!!!!

~~~~~
We try to have Chaz over for dinner one night a week for a little TLC for our newest dental student. We had fruit, tuna sandwiches with spinach and sweet potato fries.
And here is Scarlett with our 'guest' who happens to be one of her most favorite people, Uncle Chaz. She is even wearing her little bib that says, "My uncle loves me." They are pals :)
Errands.
Just another day here on the Owen range...
Scarlett and I ran some errands this morning and then Mitch got home a little early and we ran some more errands with him. The word errands always used to confuse me when I was a little girl. My mom would say, "We need to go run an errand." And I would wonder who in the world the other 'Erin' was she was talking about. Well, it has all become much more clear to me now! Errands are essential to running a home. They can be kind of fun on a pretty, sunny day. Especially when it means you get to pick up a soft pretzel and root-beer at Sam's Club! They seriously have the best soft pretzel for $0.94. You don't have to dig very deep in your purse for that snack...
Scarlett was not interested in her dinner of scrambled eggs with cheese and toast tonight so she totally had a fruit smoothy for dinner. Oh well, at least it was fruit!
And finally, not that I am a swimsuit expert, but if you are looking for a well made and modest suit landsend has some exceptional suits and they are majorly on sale right now. I think there is even an extra 20% off and free shipping if you order soon.
I just ordered this one in navy and got it for $12.79. Woohoo!
Plus internet shopping means no shuffling a purse and baby!
Well, gotta run... Mitch has called a family meeting tonight (minus the sleeping babe), this could be interesting!
Monday confessions
These pictures are from this summer when we were staying with my parents for Mitch's externship. My dad took them with his AMAZING camera. Daddy if you are reading, I know you are far from home this week and I thought these would make you smile... I love you!!!
Good morning people. What is going on in your world today? I hope good things. Scarlett and I took our morning walk on this beautiful Monday. We usually do a lap (or 2) and then walk through the garden so Scarlett can stretch her legs too. I guess this will be my first confession of the day... I let my child pick the flowers in the garden at the Arboretum. ah!
Scarlett did not eat well yesterday which is very odd for her. But, her appetite is back today with a vengeance. For lunch she ate: wheat bread, cheddar cheese, peaches, blueberries, yogurt and sweet potato fries with ketchup. I confess that all I ate for lunch was sweet potato fries. ah! They are so good with ketchup, but today I tried barbecue sauce... delish!
Mitch is already in his 3rd week of school. The weeks go by so fast! I confess that I am really trying to board the "excitement train" not the "anxiety train" with regards to where we will be this time next year. One day at a time sweet Jesus. Monday is usually laundry day at our house, but today it is "clean everything" day. I strive to keep a tidy house, but I confess that sometimes it is just not reality.
I was planning on taking Callie to the vet for her annual appointment next week. I confess that I called this morning to re-schedule her appointment to a Saturday so that Mitch could take her by himself. I just did not want to picture me, Scarlett in a stroller, and Callie (aka the most hyper springer spaniel God has ever made) in a tiny exam room together. Thank you Mitch for agreeing to go along with "plan B."
And finally, I confess that this verse is not always at the forefront of my mind, but I do pray it for Scarlett all the time: "Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, "a child of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain." Philipians 2:14-16
Now that is an attitude adjustment if I have ever read one :)
honeychild
My mom stayed overnight with us to watch Scarlett while I went to the doctor yesterday. She brought Scarlett a little t-shirt that she has been saving for years now. She got it at a little country inn her and my dad stayed at once to celebrate their anniversary. It is just a plain white 't' that says honeychild. For those of you who are not familiar with the term honeychild, I looked it up on the urban dictionary. It states: honeychild, Cajun Dialect; a term of endearment. Also "honeychile." Here is my little honeychild. We dressed her up in a little fluffy slip... she had already put her pearls on for the day!
One of Scarlett's newest and most popular expressions is "wow!" as you can see here...
Just checking. She thought something was on her little foot.
Is this fluffy enough, Nonni?
And then we played pee-pie in the curtains :)
I was so thankful that my mom came to watch Scarlett yesterday because I waited 2 and a half hours before I could even see my ob/gyn. So that meant I was gone 3 and a half hours. Insane. Nothing exciting to report, it was just my annual checkup... gotta love that appointment! I got home and Scarlett was already up from her nap so there was not much downtime in my day. After dinner I decided to forgo my nightly routine of cleaning the kitchen before we started Scarlett's night time routine. So, I laid on the couch. No sooner than I put my feet up, I had a little snuggle buddy... so Mitch snapped a picture.
Me and my honeychild :)
